Bioluminescent Bay (Bio Bay) Fajardo

The bioluminescent Laguna Grande or Bio Bay, located in a natural reserve on the Northeast tip of Puerto Rico, is the host to a unique natural experience. This pristine ecosystem teams with astonishing marine life, inhabiting a secluded lagoon protected by mangrove forests. The water comes alive with millions of glowing organisms that must be seen to be believed! These microorganisms are known as plankton and is best experienced at night during a “New Moon” and low tide, so make sure you plan your visit accordingly.
